Hundreds of MIT graduates “hang up their shingle” every year, resulting in 200 to 400 businesses started annually. There are currently 25,800 active companies founded by MIT alumni that employ approximately 3.3 million people and generate world sales of $2 trillion, which is the equivalent of the eleventh largest economy in the world.

The Martin Trust Center is celebrating these companies through our new initiative, the Digital Shingle Project. We are soon launching a brand-new website to fully capture the dynamic nature of these companies and their stories.
