The MIT Entrepreneurship Society was established in 1997 as the alumni association for entrepreneurs from all parts of MIT. Members of the MIT Entrepreneurship Society, numbering 33 to date, pledge to MIT 3 percent to 25 percent of their share of ventures they start over the course of their careers. (The target contribution is 5 percent.) The MIT Entrepreneurship Society has been endorsed by MIT President Charles Vest, Dean Glen Urban of the MIT Sloan School of Management, and Kenneth Morse, Managing Director of the MIT Entrepreneurship Center.

The "E-Society" gives living form to several ideas for new venture support and community involvement historically present in the MIT community.
