Business School Rankings
The MIT Sloan School of Management is one of the top MBA schools in the United States, according to nationally renowned ranking services such as US News, Business Week, and Forbes Magazines.

US News ranks MIT Sloan School of Management at #4 among top ranking Business Schools for 2004 and 2005. This rank is based on combined scores of Peer Assessments, Recruiter Assessments, as well as average scores from Class of '03 GPA, GMAT, acceptance rate, average starting salary, employment rate at graduation, and employment rate within 3 months of graduation.

Business Week has placed MIT Sloan School of Management in the top 10 US business schools since 2000. It moves up from rank #15 on the 1998 Business Week ranking. Business Week states, "[MIT Sloan School of Management] soars in overall ranking from 15th place to 4th. Students cite improvements in course electives and top-notch faculty. Recruiters call it a bastion for technology." This rank is based on student profiles such as GMAT scores and work experience before enrolling in school, Career Services, recruitment by top companies of the graduates, starting salaries after graduation, academics and teaching methods, number of full-time faculty and the amount of money the school invested in new technology over the past three years.

Forbes Magazine has placed MIT Sloan School of Management in their 2003 list of top 25 Business Schools in the world. Forbes ranks Business Schools based on a number of criteria such as GMAT scores and the ROI of attending the school (i.e.: ratios of pre-matriculation salaries and post graduation starting salaries). Out of all 25 schools in that section, MIT has the highest median GMAT score at 710 and the 4th highest starting salary after graduation.

Entrepreneurship Center Rankings

US News also offers a ranking of the top ten Entrepreneurship programs within an academic institution. The MIT Entrepreneurship Center within the MIT Sloan School of Management is number 5 on this list for 2005, the highest rank yet. This rank was determined by asking Deans from all schools surveyed for their personal opinion on the 10 best programs in their respective schools. The schools were then chosen based on these votes.

Trend Indicators

Sloan's student-run competitions are world-renowned indicators of business trends. Newsweek has cited the $50K Entrepreneurship Competition as the nation's premiere business-plan competition. In the 11-year history of the competition, entering teams have launched nearly 60 businesses. The Sloan eBusiness Awards, founded in 1999 to recognize and award successful innovation in eBusiness, have already become a highlight of the technology world. Previous winners include Palm Inc., WebMD, eBay, and Napster.
