Gaëtan Bonhomme, Vice President of Kurion, is working to clean up the contaminated water at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power plant, reports Andrew Morse of the Wall Street Journal. Kurion is using a new technology that filters nuclear waste and then fuses the contaminated materials into glass, forming a much more stable way of handling and disposing of the nuclear waste. Kurion hopes to continue to develop this technology, and work towards cleaning up contaminated material at the Hanford site, a formidable challenge with 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical sludge left over from building nuclear weapons.
