Entrepreneurship at MIT is about more than inspiration and
innovation. At the MIT E-Center, we believe that allowing novel
ideas to languish
in an ivory tower is a tragedy and a travesty.
Our entrepreneurs do not rest until their
innovations become a
resounding commercial success and a global standard.
How successful is this approach? According to "MIT: The Impact
of Innovation," a study
published by BankBoston in 1997,
4,000* MIT-related companies employ 1.1 million people and
have annual world sales of $232 billion, resulting in a gross
domestic product larger than
that of Thailand. Our students are
fully equipped to continue that legacy of success through our
Entrepreneurship
and Innovation Progam and executive
education programs led by
world-class faculty.
*This number has since increased to approximately 5,000.
