Brian Greenfield is the President and CFO of Purple Carrot, a 100% plant-based meal kit business.  Brian joined Purple Carrot in early 2016 to lead day-to-day operations and manage the company’s finances. With a focus on building a strong, mission-driven brand while maintaining best-in-class unit economics Brian has led Purple Carrot through years of rapid growth including the company’s acquisition in mid-2019 by a public Japanese company.

Prior to Purple Carrot, in 2008, Brian co-founded and was President, and initially CFO (for 5+ years), of Next Step Living, a residential energy efficiency and renewables company. Under Brian’s leadership Next Step Living grew to over $100M in revenue in its first five years becoming the fastest-growing private company in MA and the largest business of its type in the United States.

Prior to Next Step Living, Brian built Vista Financial, a start-up division of Performant Financial Corporation (Parthenon Capital portfolio company).  While at Vista Brian developed and rapidly grew a unique student loan services platform providing solutions for several of the nation’s largest lenders.

Before Next Step Living Brian spent time in Private Equity at Parthenon Capital and Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley.

Brian earned his MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management, and his undergraduate degree from Williams College, where he played varsity soccer and won a national championship.  Brian lives in Needham, MA with his wife (Aimee), son (Jayden), and dog (Rex).
