An angel investor and portfolio manager for almost two decades, Mary McNamara is Managing Director of Angel Healthcare Investors, LLC.  As a founding member of the Angel Capital Association, Mary was a leader in the development of angel group investing, from its informal origins to its well-defined role in funding today’s entrepreneurial ventures. She served as a trusted board director, advisor, and consultant and worked closely with CEOs to manage investments to successful liquidity events including Novazyme (Genzyme), Metabolix (MBLX), SmartCells (Merck), TyRx (Medtronic), AlcoholEdu (EverFi), QUOSA (Elsevier), and others. Her recent stint as chief operating officer of an early-stage digital health company has given her a fresh appreciation of the challenges entrepreneurs face. Previously, Mary was Vice President of product management for Fidelity Investments Institutional Services. In her early career, she enjoyed a variety of marketing and technology roles in software development at John Hancock, NYNEX, and Computer Sciences Corporation.

Mary’s passion is at the intersection of innovation and higher education. She holds a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Bowdoin College, an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, and is completing a graduate certificate in higher education at University of Massachusetts.
