What is StartMIT?

For students who are interested in exploring entrepreneurship and are looking for an entry point at MIT, StartMIT is a 2-½ week program held during January’s Independent Activities Period (IAP) that provides:

  • an opportunity to hear from a broad range of speakers from MIT’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and beyond,
  • the chance to meet peers,
  • the ability to apply what you’re learning in real time, and
  • an opportunity to form teams and work on entrepreneurial ideas you are passionate about with the support of MIT Entrepreneurs in Residence.

If you are someone who has been looking to get started on an idea that’s been ruminating, explore the commercialization of a technology that you’ve been working on in the lab, or simply better understand what forming a new venture looks and feels like, StartMIT is right for you.

The 2021 program will be held virtually from Tuesday, January 5 – Thursday, January 21.

The application period has ended and no more applicants are being accepted.

Teams/students were notified of their acceptance status on Tuesday, December 1st.
